ALBUM REVIEW: TROYE SIVAN'S 'SOMETHING TO GIVE EACH OTHER': A CELEBRATION OF BEING VERS IN EVERY GROOVE

BY: JESSE ZAPATERO

Troye Sivan's third studio album, "Something To Give Each Other," is a spirited celebration of various facets of life, including sex, dance, sweat, queerness, love, and friendship. This album sets the stage for a hedonistic experience, filled with unapologetic horniness and pulsating beats.

The album's lead single, "Rush," sets the tone for the overall vibe, capturing the sensation of a quick hit of poppers. The extended version on the album allows Sivan to luxuriate in the afterglow of this throbbing house track. "Got Me Started" and "Silly" further reflect the distorting effects of desire, while "One Of Your Girls" explores the age-old trope of queer individuals pining after their straight counterparts, set to a seductive tropical groove.

While this album may lack the tender, reflective moments found in Sivan's previous works, it more than compensates with its unapologetic embrace of queer pleasure. The album's title, "Something to Give Each Other," may hint at a double entendre,(If you know, you know), but it's essentially an invitation to explore pleasure without reservation.

Notable tracks like "One Of Your Girls" and "Still Got It" showcase Sivan's a gauzier and warmer sound palette that characterizes this album. It's a refreshing departure from his previous work, emphasizing the joy of queer life and love.

"Something To Give Each Other" signifies a new era for Troye Sivan, one focused on self-discovery, connection, and embracing one's true self. It is a vital pop album filled with love, lust, and regret. Each track offers a unique emotional experience, from chuckles to gasps, making it feel like a curated playlist guiding you through various emotional states. As the album closes with "Honey," it leaves you with a sense of catharsis and optimism, prompting you to hit replay and embark on this intoxicating experience once more.
