Hi NAS! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Ok this is me giving my best shot at summing myself up  — I’m a Latinx/Queer Angeleno driven by visuals. Currently, I’m directing & producing music videos and making my way into tv/film. I’ve co-founded a production company with my buddy Ash Davis called DNI Productions, it is queer-owned and operated. :)

Tell us more about latest video G FLIP - Waste of Space.

This was a collaboration between G Flip and myself. G came to me with this song and expressed how meaningful it was to them. They wanted the song to be told by non-binary folks, and they trusted me to put it through my own lens.

As soon as I was alone with the song, the vision and feeling rushed instantaneously. Community was a visual I wanted to surround loneliness and isolation.  It was important for hope and strength to be visible and felt, because I kept thinking to myself ‘if I was a kid this is a video that was missing in my life’ and it has to be a positive one. :)

‘Waste Of Space’ was produced, directed and set-designed by enbies. The cast is non-binary, along with the majority of crew are queer/nb.

What is it about and what inspired your creative vision for this?

SELF LOVE! Over-coming feeling unwanted and ostracized. Coming from a marginalized community these feelings are drilled all over our childhood and up-bringing. I found my light within my community - finding others like me, filled me with confidence, strength and so many other beautiful feelings.  I hope viewers take from this video that there is light at the end of the tunnel, that love exists for all of us, even through our broken structures.

This is an anthem with its center-focus on enbies, undoubtedly a non-binary anthem.

What are the challenges that you’ve encountered in your career so far?

Oh boy, lol. I’ll just state my most recent one - I struggle with not feeling good enough and almost always immediately after I put out a body of work.

How did you rise above these challenges?

I talk myself out of any emotional low, get back up and create.

What’s the proudest moment of your career?

Honestly, I have a few proud moments in my career, but the “Waste Of Space’ video has taken the cake - I really feel I did something for my community with my community.

What inspires you?

Happiness in sadness. You know the feeling of listening to a sad song and truly, deeply feeling sad? Yet, somehow there’s this unknown pleasure. That’s where I find inspiration, right there.

What scares you?

My own thoughts. (:
