CHLOE COLEMAN FROM SPY TO ASSASSIN

Once in a while the entertainment industry comes across a luminous star whose talent is so undeniable it shines bright in many places. Young actress CHLOE COLEMAN is one of these rare promising stars whose journey is just starting.

Chloe Coleman can be seen in “Big Little Lies” as Zoe Kravitz’s daughter. She starred in the Disney+ film, “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made” that was screened in Sundance, she was also in Greg Daniel’s Amazon Prime Video comedy “UPLOAD,” she starred alongside Dave Bautista in “My Spy” and will be in “Gunpowder Milkshake” a super bad-ass female action feature with Karen Gillan, Angela Bassett, Lena Heady and more, “Marry Me” alongside Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, and the highly anticipated Avatar 2.

How are you doing, and what keeps you busy nowadays?

I mean, everybody’s been kept inside. So, there’s been a real bunch of stuff I’ve been doing on quarantine. I’ve been doing a lot of reading for sure. I also do a lot of gaming and talking with my friends and my cousins. We got a trampoline during quarantine so we’ve been on that. And we have a garden now, so we’ve been growing all these vegetables and my mom has been cooking them into our soups and stuff. So it’s been really fun to be able to be at home for so long but you know, I miss getting to act and being in school, getting to see people but it’s also been a great time to get stuff done..

Congratulations on MY SPY. How was it since you wrapped filming the movie?

I remember when we wrapped, I really didn’t want us to wrap because I love the cast.

The environment of the set was just relaxed and the place is just where you would want to be. I mean getting to film the movie itself and doing the scenes and playing my character was so fun. I can relate to the character and acting has always been storytelling to me. So filming and getting to work on the set was fun. I’m kind of sad that we wrapped because we’ve done all of this work and now it’s ready to be edited and we get to see it but sometimes you just want it to last.

How did it feel when you first saw the finished film?

My Gosh, I remember, you know, some of the scenes I haven’t seen. I was really blown away to get to see it all put together. I mean, the CGI looks great and getting to see it all was awesome. It just had this flow. Because when you film it scene by scene it’s always stopping but when it’s together, you then see this flow of the movie and then it just stream through, and you feel the emotions that the movie has. So I was just so happy and proud that it was finished and we have this movie.

What’s the best part about playing Sophie?

Sophie, I love how emotional and her character is. Because she has to go through a lot – moving from Chicago and not knowing everybody, also losing her father which does not have the best impact on her. It kind of brings her down. And also, just having a harder time at school in general hurts for her because she has no friends so that when JJ comes around, he becomes a big father figure for her. You know, the first friend that she can really make in this new town that she’s in.

What’s the biggest lesson that you’ve learned throughout this whole process?

School- I mean, there’s always going to be kids there that won’t accept you for who you are, and you have to know that there’s people who do accept you. People might get you down and treat you badly because you’re different or they don’t respect you or you’re not good enough in their eyes, but you will always be good enough because nobody is ever going to be perfect. As long as you’re yourself, you’re making real friends.

Just don’t let people tell you from right or wrong or what you’re doing is wrong or who you are is wrong. Because I mean, it’s not wrong, just be whoever you want to be.

Yes, I really do.

Do you have tips in creating effective TikTok’s?

I like to keep all of my social media pages very colorful. So just try different things that can be a family thing or something funny. Make it a learning experience, something educational.

TikTok is probably one of the best social media apps because it’s really great for advertising, there’s so many creative people and the community is really great and supportive for artists. There are so many good artists I see and they do these amazing things and then people don’t recognize them and I’m like you have to do something with this talent. I’d buy anything from you in a second. And also there are generally nice people, funny people, who make videos. So there’s you know, people who like to keep up with the trends. Then there are also people who like to create original content and then there are also the big TikTok stars but I think as long as you keep a colorful page and as long as you’re yourself, that’s fine.

I like to have a lot of original content or just like kind of make things that are related to what’s happening now and you know, be open and supportive of everyone. TikTok is really just about being you because it’s super accepting. People are always themselves on there you know it’s not a lot like everywhere else.

Do you remember the funniest or the most memorable TikTok that you and Dave have done together?

The TikTok that we did the “Losing my Marbles” – okay, when we filmed that, we didn’t plan it. Well, he said maybe we can try and like pour the water and I didn’t expect because I didn’t know that Dave was going to throw it and so I really scared him and he like really threw the water and it just went all over the table. It kind of shocked me because, I had to keep popping up from under the desk to be able to get the shot and then when he poured the water that was like my favourite TikTok that we’ve made.

That was totally unexpected.

Yes, it was unexpected which just made it awesome though so that was by far my favourite.

Can you share anything about your upcoming roles in Gunpowder - Milkshake and Avatar?

I can’t say anything about Avatar, no, I can’t say anything. But I can tell you that Gunpowder – Milkshake is going to be amazing. Gunpowder is a completely feminine based film focusing on this three generation of assassins, and my character – Emily, is the third who sort of changes their ways and it’s sort of a symbol to the anti-violence. It has an amazing cast. And our amazing director Navot Papushado who is from Israel. Where we filmed, Berlin was the most memorable. It’s my favourite place we’ve went to. I mean, we got to go to Paris there and Prague, it was really great. Everybody on that film came from all around the world like Lena Headey came from England, Karen Gillan came from Scotland and Navot Papushado is from Israel. So it was a great so I’m very excited for everyone to get to see that.

If you were a book, what book would you be and why?

I would definitely be a fantasy because I’m in love with this book series called Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland, she’s the author and she is so creative. Every single book connects, because there’s so many questions from book one – there’s like a question from book one that gets solved in book fourteen, it’s just exciting. It’s hard to explain but I would definitely be a fantasy book because then you can really be imaginative and creative and give this special story. But also I like all genres, also horror is one of my favourite things. I’m not as much into drama, I mean mystery too is really good but I kind of like it when things don’t make sense for some reason. Probably Fantasy would be my favourite genre or science fiction.
