Desuar Spa: A Hidden Underground Oasis in Downtown Los Angeles
Desuar Spa is easily one of the best Spa places in Los Angeles that gives off a luxurious vibe without breaking the bank. Massage prices range from $65-$275 depending on the time and the type of massage and extra services that you will need. They also offer a variety of other services like scrubs and wraps, CBD treatments, facials, soak bath, couple services, slimming, tanning and waxing.
It is located in the midst of downtown, close to the Metro, tucked in between Broadway and Spring streets, close to The Last Bookstore. The entrance could be tricky to find if you’re not familiar with downtown. It took me a few minutes to find the door to the building’s entrance. Although I was able to locate the place right away as soon as I found the signage located above the building’s door that says “Desuar, Enter Downstairs.”
Upon entering the building, the building’s concierge will direct you to the elevators that can take you underground to the spa. Once you exit the elevator doors, look out for the signs that will guide you to the spa’s main lobby. It’s not that complicated and the signs are very easy to interpret. Once you check-in, the spa immediately offers complimentary wine and refreshments. Appropriate dim lighting and soothing ambient music plays throughout the place will instantly set the mood.
There’s a mix of some sort of old- European, Middle Eastern yet modern vibes in the overall interior design. It could use a little bit of update with the lighting but you’ll get the vibe and it will definitely take your mind off the chaotic world of Downtown above ground.
Now to the spa /massage experience. I got the 50 minutes of Deep Tissue/Sports massage just to try it out. I was ushered to the guys shower/locker area which looks really nice and clean. The robe and the towel are both super soft, which is rare in most public spas and massage places.
The massage gave me life. It definitely helped release the stress from my tensed shoulders and back. My masseur was careful, yet firm, and also keeps checking on me every a few minutes or so. After the massage, my masseuse gave me stretching pointers and ways to improve my shoulder and back muscles.
I also tried the Cannabis Soak while sipping a glass of red wine to see how it would go. I was led to a candle-lit room with a huge copper looking bubbly tub filled with water and CBD oil. It was a dimly-lit private room where you can just soak for a bit and relax. It was nice, but after around 15 minutes, I left. I don’t want to fall asleep as it was really comfortable.
Anyway, my overall experience was really nice. And for the price, Desuar offers high quality, exceptional service. Will I go back and book it again? Absolutely.
