As we wrap up the first month of 2024, what exciting things can we look forward to in the world of KO?

Welcome to my crazy world. I'm releasing a new single tic tac boom on Feb 6th.

I got a sneak peek at "tic tac boom" – could you share more about the inspiration behind this upcoming single?

It's about being caught in limerence with someone. Your mind goes all fuzzy and it's hard to distinguish it from love. This song is a snapshot of that moment.

Any chance we'll see a full-length album from you this year?

Possibly... I would really like to! I have a lot of songs but I just have to figure out what goes together, but definitely at least another EP if not an album.

What sparked your passion for music in the first place?

It's a way for me to be free to be who I am. Sometimes it foreshadows things that will happen or who I will become, because I believe that music can be like a manifestation or a spell.

When you're in front of the mic, how do you kick off the creative process for a new song?

Usually it's the lyrics that spark an idea for me. I'm a lyrics person, so I always have to tell a story.

As your music grows, how do you see your artistic identity evolving? What are your goals for your music and career in the years ahead?

I just want to make and release more music. I have no idea what direction it will take me, so you and I will both see. I also want to tour and develop my live show more.

What's a valuable lesson from your career that you think everyone can relate to? Looking back, what's been the most proud moment of your music journey so far?

To turn your attention inward and listen to yourself because you know what to do. I'm most proud of never giving up on myself.

Tell us your top three favorite artists ever. If you could collaborate with one, who would it be, and what vibe would you go for?

That's so hard. Janet, Britney, & Nicki are in the top though. I'd want to collab with Britney and do a Blackout vibe.

Where do you draw your inspirations from when creating music?

It can be hard for me to express how I really feel irl, so I am really honest with myself and put it out in my music.

What's the most challenging aspect of creating music for you, and how do you overcome it?

I can be shy, but I think I overcome that when I'm in sessions or performing. I like throwing myself in situations where I'm outside of my comfort zone.

If you could pick a dream venue or festival to perform at, where would it be and why?

Madison Square Garden because I used to live in New York and I have a lot of memories of going to concerts there.

Are there any specific themes or messages you aim to convey through your music?

It's never that serious even if I'm talking about something serious. It's for the emotional baddies.

If you had to pick one song of yours that you feel truly represents your style and message, which one would it be and why?

Sorry in Advance even though I wouldn't apologize for being myself. There's a lot of layers to the song (like an onion). It's silly but real.

What's your go-to method for unwinding and finding inspiration when facing creative blocks?

Maybe I'll just switch to another thing like create some visual art or dance to not burn myself out. I think the best way to get out of your head is to go and experience life, and then something will happen to make you feel some type of way. It could be the smallest thing but you'll have something to say about it.

Is there a particular moment or experience in your life that significantly influenced your musical direction?

Growing up and watching female pop stars like Beyonce really perform and dance. I was obsessed and I'd watch it over and over and copy the choreo. Also, when I discovered K-pop for the first time because I hadn't seen any music artists that looked like me until then.

How do you balance staying true to your artistic vision while also adapting to changing trends in the music industry?

I try to not get too influenced by trends or think about what other people are going to think. I just make what I want to make by just doing what feels right to me. I go through phases of not listening to a lot of music, but then cycles where I listen to a lot of different types of music and it'll inspire me.

Can you share a fun or interesting behind-the-scenes story from your time in the studio?

In the song "stoptryingtohavesexwithme" people are always shook by the moans and they think that's me moaning on the beat but it's not!! That's actually a Pornhub sound that I sent to the producer.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting their journey?

Don't be too hard on yourself.

How would you describe the essence of your music?

I hope it makes you feel confident and valid.

Any exciting news or upcoming events you'd like to share with your audience?

To expect a lot of music to come this year.

Aside from music, what else keeps you occupied in your free time?

I like playing video games but I haven't had too much time to play lately. I'm also working on a photobook!

If you were a book, which one would you be and why?

If I were a book, I'd be The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami because there's a lot of characters' storylines going on simultaneously.
